Outgoing Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz paid a farewell visit to Vietnam’s top leader, To Lam, in Hanoi on 15 June as the two countries prepare to celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations, Vietnam News Agency reports.
To Lam praised Prytz for his contributions to strengthening bilateral ties and highlighted the Green Strategic Partnership, established in 2023, as a key framework for cooperation on green growth, energy transition and climate action.
The Vietnamese leader welcomed continued Danish investment in Vietnam and noted that the launch of direct flights between Vietnam and Copenhagen in December 2025, together with Vietnam’s visa exemption for Danish citizens, has helped boost tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges.
He said the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations provides an opportunity to build on decades of cooperation and deepen ties in areas including trade, investment, technology, education and culture.
Prytz said Denmark considers Vietnam one of its key partners in the Asia-Pacific region and praised the country’s economic development, reform efforts and commitment to green transition.
The ambassador noted that more than 150 Danish companies now operate in Vietnam. He highlighted investments by LEGO, Pandora and A.P. Moller–Maersk as examples of Danish confidence in Vietnam’s long-term prospects.
Prytz added that Denmark will continue supporting Vietnam’s green transition and sees further opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, offshore wind, digitalisation, healthcare, agriculture and sustainable food systems.
