In the early hours of 6 February 2025, an Icelandic tourist sustained injuries after tripping over a road hazard on Pattaya Klang Road in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Center received an emergency call at 1:06 AM and immediately dispatched volunteers to the scene.

Rescue personnel found the tourist with facial injuries and significant bleeding. After providing first aid, they transported the individual to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The tourist reported tripping over the edge of a large hole, measuring approximately 1.5 by 1.5 meters, which appeared to be a drainage opening with raised edges about 10 centimeters high. The area was covered with debris, including rocks, leaves, and trash, which concealed the hazard.

Local residents expressed frustration, stating that the hole has been present for a long time and has caused multiple accidents involving both tourists and locals. They also pointed out additional dangers, such as exposed bolt heads left on the sidewalk after the removal of streetlights. These protruding bolts, a result of unfinished maintenance work, continue to pose risks to unsuspecting pedestrians.

Concerned residents are urging authorities to take immediate measures to repair the hazardous hole and remove the exposed bolts to prevent further accidents and ensure public safety.
