Norway and Indonesia have launched the fifth phase of the FOLU Community Fund, continuing a long-running partnership aimed at supporting local communities and sustainable forest management.
The new phase was launched in Indonesia as part of broader efforts to strengthen community participation in protecting forests and reducing emissions from land-use activities, according to Indonesia’s Antara News.
The FOLU Community Fund supports initiatives at the local level, with funding directed towards communities working on sustainable livelihoods, forest conservation and climate-related activities.
The programme forms part of the wider cooperation between Norway and Indonesia on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.
The launch of a fifth phase underlines the continued cooperation between the two countries on climate and forestry issues, areas that have been central to Norway’s engagement with Indonesia.
For Norwegian businesses and organisations operating in Southeast Asia, the programme also highlights the continuing importance of climate finance and sustainable land use in Norway–Indonesia relations.
