Norway and Vietnam are looking to work closer together to improve conditions for workers, according to Lao Dong.

Representatives from Norwegian General Confederation of Labour met with Vietnam’s main labour organisation in Hanoi to discuss closer cooperation on workers’ rights.

Among those attending were LO Norway Vice President Are Tomasgard and Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Vice President Huynh Thanh Xuan.

Workers’ rights and protection

The talks focused on how to better protect workers in Vietnam, including those in informal jobs and on digital platforms.

The two countries also discussed improving wage negotiations, strengthening social protection and offering more training to help workers adapt to changes like digitalisation and the green transition.

Vietnam also called for continued Norwegian support for a joint project aimed at improving working conditions.
