
Thai police have arrested a Swedish man in Phuket in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a Swedish woman, following a report filed earlier this week, Thaiger reports.
The suspect, a 32-year-old Swedish national, was taken into custody on Wednesday, February 5, after officers from Patong Police Station located him at a hotel in Kathu district.
He is being held pending further legal proceedings. The case was reported to police on February 1st by a 26-year-old Swedish woman, who alleged that the assault took place at a hotel in the Patong area several days earlier.
Authorities have not released further details about the incident. Police confirmed that the woman was referred for a medical examination as part of the investigation.
Following a review of her testimony and the available evidence, officers identified and arrested the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information has been made public at this stage.
