Grundfos has released a new whitepaper, “Smart Pumps, Green Tomorrow,” developed with Arthur D. Little, outlining how smart, energy-efficient water systems can cut electricity use and Scope 2 emissions in semiconductor manufacturing. The launch on 30 October 2025 highlights the sector’s rapid growth toward projected 1 trillion USD in global sales by 2030 and the resulting need to manage rising energy demand.

The report positions water systems as an immediate lever for savings because they are typically owned and operated in-house, allowing swift upgrades to pumps and controls. It evaluates energy use across leading chipmakers and details pathways for operators to reduce emissions through equipment upgrades, process improvements and operational policies.

Malaysia features in the next step: Grundfos will convene the Semiconductor Sustainability Summit in Penang on 11 November 2025, bringing industry stakeholders together to discuss improving both energy and water efficiency in fabs. The event underscores Denmark–Malaysia ties as Danish technology providers support sustainability efforts in Malaysia’s semiconductor hub.

Grundfos says smarter water systems can help fab operators lower costs while strengthening long-term sustainability performance amid expanding production and more complex chip processes.
