
The Philippines, Norway and the ASEAN Secretariat met in Manila on 22 July to review their growing cooperation under the ASEAN-Norway Sectoral Dialogue Partnership.
The trilateral meeting was chaired by Philippine Foreign Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro. It brought together Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide and ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn.
The meeting took stock of achievements under the ASEAN-Norway Sectoral Dialogue Partnership.
The participants also discussed ways to further strengthen relations between ASEAN and Norway.
The meeting highlighted the continued engagement between Norway and Southeast Asia through the sectoral dialogue partnership.
Norway became an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner in 2015. Since then, the partnership has expanded cooperation across several areas of shared interest.
The meeting in Manila formed part of Norway’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with ASEAN member states.
It also reflected the Philippines’ role as ASEAN Chair in facilitating dialogue with external partners.
No new agreements were announced following the meeting.
Instead, the discussions focused on reviewing progress and identifying opportunities to deepen ASEAN-Norway cooperation in the years ahead.
