Swedish companies are presenting mining technologies and expertise as Sweden and the Philippines seek to strengthen cooperation on more sustainable mining.

Team Sweden participated in the Mining Philippines 2026 International Conference and Exhibition, organised by the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines, bringing together representatives from government, industry and academia.

Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines Anna Ferry highlighted Sweden’s experience as a longstanding mining nation and its use of innovation to improve mining operations. She pointed to developments in electrification, automation and resource efficiency as areas where Swedish expertise could contribute to the Philippine mining industry.

Swedish companies Guideline Geo and SKF also took part in the discussions, presenting approaches to smarter mineral exploration, more efficient resource use and sustainable maintenance of mining equipment.

The discussions also included OceanaGold Philippines, which provided the perspective of a mining operator working in the country.

Moderated by Sweden’s Trade Commissioner to the Philippines, Johan Lennefalk, the session examined how cooperation between governments, businesses and academic institutions could help turn technological innovation into practical improvements in mining operations.

The participation reflects Sweden’s interest in developing commercial and technological partnerships in the Philippine mining sector, particularly in areas connected to critical minerals and more sustainable production.

No specific agreements or new investments were announced in connection with the conference.
