Swedish medical technology company Elekta has signed a five-year cooperation agreement with Thailand’s King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), aiming to strengthen collaboration in medical technology, research and education.
The agreement was announced at an event hosted by Thailand’s National Cancer Institute on 7 October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The partnership will focus on research, knowledge exchange, education, internships and innovation in medical technology. It is intended to create opportunities for collaboration between Elekta and the Thai institution, although specific projects and implementation plans have not yet been detailed publicly.
Founded in Sweden, Elekta develops technology and solutions for treating cancer and neurological disorders, including radiation therapy systems. The company has an established presence in Thailand, where it has previously highlighted opportunities to expand access to radiation therapy and strengthen local service capabilities.
The agreement brings together Swedish medical technology expertise and Thai academic capacity at a time when cancer care and the development of healthcare technology remain important priorities across Southeast Asia.
Further details on planned research projects, training activities and potential clinical applications would help clarify how the partnership is expected to translate into practical benefits for Thailand’s healthcare sector.
