Bangkok is stepping up its climate ambitions.

On April 3, 2026, Dr. Pirun Saiyasitpanich, Director-General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment, met with H.E. Mrs. Anna Hammargren, Sweden’s Ambassador to Thailand, to explore ways to expand bilateral cooperation on climate change.

The discussion covered Thailand’s current climate initiatives, including progress on its NDC 3.0 targets and the drafting of a new climate change law. Both sides also explored opportunities for joint investment and financial cooperation.

Looking ahead, Thailand and Sweden are preparing for the Sweden-Thailand Sustainable Development Forum 2026 on May 29. The forum will focus on energy transition, sustainable forest management, and achieving updated Nationally Determined Contributions through collaboration.

“Thailand aims for sustainable growth with a low-carbon economy and climate resilience, supported by public participation,” said Dr. Pirun, highlighting the country’s vision for a greener future.
