Thai Airways is enforcing a new rule that limits passengers to carrying no more than two power banks each, and strictly prohibits using or charging them during flights, Bangkok Post reports.

The regulation took effect on March 27, following safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The measure aims to reduce risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, which can overheat or catch fire if mishandled in the air.

While passengers face these restrictions, airline crews are allowed to carry and use power banks during flights.

Thai Airways has urged travellers to comply, warning that non-compliance could lead to denied boarding or confiscation of devices.
