Swedish technology packages could help Vietnam modernise its ports and infrastructure, according to Sweden’s ambassador, Johan Ndisi.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Autumn Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City, he outlined an approach combining companies’ expertise.

Vietnam News Agency reported his comments on 30 October.

During engagements with Hai Phong Port, Swedish companies presented complementary capabilities, including Ericsson’s network connectivity. Ndisi said modern ports need electricity, communications and transport systems that work together.

Combining technologies

He also highlighted Hitachi Energy’s transmission technology, noting that renewable energy needs adequate electricity grids.

The approach builds on an existing industrial presence. Ndisi cited ABB robots at VinFast’s Hai Phong factory, SKF’s involvement in urban rail and Atlas Copco’s industrial equipment.

ScandAsia previously reported on Sweden and Vietnam’s technology cooperation, including clean energy, advanced manufacturing and smart infrastructure.

Ndisi said cooperation should improve production efficiency, rather than simply increase equipment sales. Sweden is also ready to develop broader Nordic packages.

The report announced no new contract or investment commitment.
