The Norwegian Seamen’s Church has confirmed that it intends to remain in Singapore while seeking a buyer for its property at Pasir Panjang Road.
ScandAsia previously reported that the historic hilltop property had been placed on the market with a guide price of SGD 70 million. However, it remained unclear whether the organisation would leave Singapore or relocate.
The Seamen’s Church has now confirmed that it plans to move to smaller and more suitable premises in the city.
“There is nothing dramatic about this for us,” Secretary General Jeffrey Huseby said in a statement published on the organisation’s website.
He added that Singapore and Southeast Asia remain strategically important, as the church is its only location in this part of Asia.
The administration is considering both renting and purchasing new premises. Proceeds from the sale are expected to finance the relocation and staff accommodation, while any surplus could be placed in a professionally managed fund.
The Pasir Panjang property, which has served the Scandinavian community since 1977, remains for sale. The property remains on the market, with interested buyers invited to submit offers by 15 September 2026.
