Sweden and Vietnam will mark 50 years of healthcare cooperation with a three-day programme taking place from 16 to 18 November in Hanoi, Bac Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City.

Sweden–Vietnam Health Week 2026 will bring together healthcare leaders, hospitals, researchers, universities and life science companies to discuss cooperation in areas including digital health, precision medicine, medical technology and hospital modernisation.

The partnership dates back to 1976, when construction began on Vietnam–Sweden Hospital in Uong Bi, Quang Ninh province. Sweden also supported the development of the National Children’s Hospital in Hanoi, which officially opened in 1981.

Cooperation has since expanded beyond hospital development to include medical research, healthcare technology and professional training.

The programme will look at how Swedish expertise and Vietnamese experience can support improvements in healthcare access and quality as Vietnam continues to develop its health system.
