If you’re planning on flying from Stockholm to Phuket or vice versa with Thai Airways during your Christmas or Winter vacation you’ll have to find an alternative route. The airline has announced, that flights Stockholm – Phuket and Phuket – Bangkok – Stockholm, or TG963 and TG962 respectively, are cancelled from Thursday 5 December 2019 to Saturday 28 March 2020.

In the press release revealing these cancellations Thai Airways point to a decreased demand “due to an increasing interest in other destinations in domestic Thailand as well as the market has given travellers more options in terms of flight routes, schedules and destinations”.

Furthermore, the Swedish krona (SEK) is weak and as Thai Airways’ operational cost is in US dollars (USD) the airline has decided on cancelling the flights. On 1 January 2019 100 SEK would buy 11.25 USD whereas the same amount of SEK will only get you 10.33 USD on 19 August.

“THAI apologizes for this cancellation and we are very sorry for any inconvenience this might cause our passengers,” the airline writes in the press release.

If you have already booked a flight on TG963 or TG962 in the affected period through Thai Airways, you should contact the airline via email: [email protected] or call at +46 8 598 836 00.

If your flight is booked through a travel agency, the airline asks you to contact the given agency.
