
Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida are scheduled to pay an official visit to Sweden from 29 April to 2 May 2026, according to a Thai-language announcement circulating in local media.
The visit will reportedly take place at the invitation of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. The Thai royal couple will attend celebrations marking the Swedish monarch’s 80th birthday, which falls on 30 April 2026 at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
The Swedish Royal Court has already announced that King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 80th birthday will be marked on 30 April with a thanksgiving service in the Royal Palace Church, military congratulations in the outer courtyard of the palace, public celebrations during the day, and a gala dinner for invited guests in the evening.
The visit will place the Thai King and Queen among the royal guests attending one of the major royal events in Sweden this year.
The Swedish Royal Household has declined ScandAsia’s request to confirm the the Royal Thai visit and referred inquiries to Thai authorities. A request for a verification from the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm was at time of publishing unanswered.
