Revival of the Great Scandinavian Christmas Bazaar

The Scandinavian Christmas Bazaar will be revived this year on November 29 in the garden of the Church of Sweden on Sukhumvit Soi 33. The Bazaar used to be a cornerstone event in the year of the Scandinavians in Bangkok. It was originally created by the Danish Women’s Network and took place in the garden of the Danish Ambassador’s residence. When the Danish women abandoned the event, the challenge was taken over by the Scandinavian Society Siam and later the Swedish Church, but for the past several years the participation in the event has been declining.
“This year we have decided to reinstate this great event to it’s former position,” says Dharmaporn ‘Eid’ Alexandersen, Chairman of Scandinavian Society Siam.
“Initially we thought we would have to arrange it at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, but then the new Swedish priest, Lovisa Moller, confirmed that the Church is actually not moving out of its current villa on Sukhumvit Soi 33 until the end of this year, so now we will make a combined X’mas Bazaar together,” she adds.
For companies and individuals, the Scandinavian Christmas Bazaar will be a great opportunity to set up tables at the events where they can sell Christmas gifts or offer services to the Scandinavians. For commercial companies a table size 180 cm x 80 cm will go for only THB 3,000 or two tables put together for THB 5,000. Small companies will be offered a standard 180 cm x 80 cm table for THB 1,500 and individuals can have a table for only THB 500.
The Great Scandinavian Christmas Bazaar wil this year also be joined also by many of the other organizations active within the Scandinavian community in Thailand, e.g. Danish Women’s Network, and Thai Danish Club.
Interested individuals, organizations and companies are encouraged to join. Please send an email to Dharmaporn Alexandersen eidleo@gmail.com
