Danish theatre company Teater Katapult will make its Hong Kong debut next month with the solo production The Insider, presented as part of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s “European Theatres in Resonance” programme.
The play is inspired by the real “Cum-Ex” dividend tax fraud case, which involved several European countries. Performed by Christoffer Hvidberg Rønje and directed by Johan Sarauw, the production uses live acting, visuals and a binaural soundscape to explore the personal journey of a young lawyer who becomes involved in a large-scale financial scheme.
The Insider has previously been staged across Europe and Korea and received a Scotsman Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2023.
Teater Katapult was founded in Aarhus in 1995 and focuses on developing and presenting contemporary drama by Danish and international artists.
The performances will take place at the Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre at 8pm on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 December, and at 3pm on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December. The programme will be performed in English with Chinese and English surtitles.
