Norwegian TGS secures exclusive seismic survey contract offshore Brunei

Norwegian energy company TGS has won a contract to carry out a new 3D seismic survey offshore Brunei.

Norwegian energy data company TGS has been awarded exclusive rights to carry out a new multi-client 3D seismic survey offshore Brunei, marking a further expansion of its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

The contract was awarded by the Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam and covers the acquisition, processing and marketing of new 3D seismic data under a multi-client model.

Under the agreement, TGS will seek funding from industry partners before starting the survey. The new seismic data will help companies better assess Brunei’s offshore oil and gas resources ahead of future licensing rounds.

The project forms part of Brunei’s efforts to attract international investment and encourage further development of its oil and gas sector. It also strengthens TGS’ existing portfolio of multi-client seismic projects across the Asia-Pacific region.

David Hajovsky, Executive Vice President of Multi-Client at TGS, said the company was pleased to work with Brunei’s petroleum authority on the project.

Hajovsky said the survey would help companies better assess Brunei’s offshore resources. He added that it reflects TGS’ commitment to supporting exploration across Asia-Pacific.

TGS, headquartered in Oslo, provides geological data and intelligence to the global energy industry and has built a significant multi-client data library covering energy basins worldwide.
