European Union Youth Forum in Singapore

From 16-20 July, the Global Youth Congress International (GYCI) hosted the first ever EU Youth Forum (EUYF) in Singapore. The aim was to enhance the knowledge and understanding and educate Singapore and Asia-Pacific student delegates on important political, economic and socio-cultural issues of the EU and its member states. The EUYF organizing committee invited EU member states’ embassies to take part in the final day of the forum.

This event gave the Finnish Embassy an opportunity to showcase, inform and engage Asian and Singaporean youths and the public in Finland’s artistic, cultural, culinary, educational, environmental, and tourism specialties. This cultural festival was held at the plaza on Bishan Junction shopping centre, where Finnish design, culture, and delicacies were distributed to guests by the Embassy.

For four days, the forum featured a series of talks, workshops, and discussions for youth delegates on topics of socio-cultural and political importance. Ambassador Holger Standertskjöld, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Singapore, attended the event as a Guest-of-Honour.
