Danish man missing in Thailand for over two months

A 41-year-old Danish citizen, Jakob Jensen, has been missing in Thailand since early March 2025, according to a Facebook post made by Kulnida Natnicha S. Srita, who is assisting the family in the search. and shared by Pornpan S. Madsen on the group Danskere i Thailand.

Jakob arrived in Thailand on 2 February 2025 and initially stayed with a close friend in Ranong province. On 1 March, concerned about Jakob’s mental state, the friend drove him to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok with the intention of sending him back to Denmark. However, Jakob did not board the flight.

His mother received an email from him on 2 March, which did not indicate any distress. From 3 March onward, his phone has been switched off, and there has been no contact since.

Around 19 March, Jakob was reportedly seen again in Ranong, staying at the Palmy Hotel.

On 21 March, he appeared confused and incoherent. Jakob reportedly damaged furniture at the hotel, indicating further signs of distress. According to the Facebook post, officers from the Tourist Police in Ranong assisted him settling the cost of the damage to the satisfaction of the hotel and then helped him board a bus to Bangkok, where he said he planned to meet a friend.

Comments to his sister Anne Jensen’s post on Facebook – including from an eyewitness to the hotel incident – add details that indicates his mental problems.

Jakob has not been seen or heard from since, and it remains unconfirmed whether he ever arrived in Bangkok.

The case has been reported to the Royal Danish Embassy in Thailand, the Tourist Police, Thai immigration, and the Danish police, who initiated an international missing persons request on 6 May 2025. His family fears he may now be without essential medication and could be in a vulnerable mental state.
