Uffe Wolffhechel new Danish Ambassador to Thailand

Dansk ambassadør

On Monday 5 September 2016, the Embassy of Denmark in Bangkok welcomed their new ambassador, Uffe Wolffhechel, and his wife, Susie A. Ruff, and the ambassador and his wife invited the whole staff for lunch at the residence.

They have been here for less than a week, but have already had many positive encounters with Thailand and the people here.

Uffe Wolffhechel has a substantial curriculum as a diplomat. Prior to joining the embassy in Bangkok, Uffe Wolffhechel has served as the Danish Ambassador in Kabul, Afghanistan, from 2014 to 2016. The ambassador is married to Susie A. Ruff, who works as an independent Business Innovation Consultant.

Furthermore, the ambassador and his wife have a passion for railways. The first thing the ambassador does on a new destination is to look into the local railway system. This summer he and his wife took the American “Amtrak” train from New York to Savannah, Georgia; soon they will be boarding Thai trains. He is also a frequent runner – both exploring cities or on the treadmill.

They are looking very much forward to working with and strengthening the Thai-Danish relations.
