Danish Companies in Giant Chinese Airport Plan

The Danish State Department has chosen eight Danish companies to seek the opportunity to be part of the massive “Building China: Airports”.

According to planned, the Chinese government wants to build 50 new airports towards 2020 making it a total of 244 in China.

And that is where the Danish companies come into play. Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, JAAA, Moe & Brødsgaard, CPH Design, Smoke Solution, Fire Eater, Danfoss and Roxull all posses different competences ranging from architecture to airport tools or fire extinguishing know-how.

Furthermore there is the Chinese partner, The Architectural Design and Researsh Institute of Tongji University. Behind the long title is one of Chinas most recognized architectual and engineering companies with more than 3000 employees and a long list of huge building projects on their resomee.

“In China you can’t act without a local partner, and in Tongji we have found the best one possible,” says Franz Gammelgaard-Schmidt, who is the commercial Consul of the Danish Consulate in Shanghai.

The goal for the Danish coalition is to win at least one contract and use it as a pilot project to access more jobs in China in the future.
