Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned travellers to check both destinations and flight routes before travelling abroad for Easter or the summer holiday, after recent conflict in the Middle East caused airspace closures and flight cancellations.
The ministry said the security situation remains serious in many parts of the Middle East, even though air traffic has started to recover in some areas. It noted that Norwegian travellers heading to Asia may still be affected if their journey includes a stopover in the region.
Thailand is among the more than 60 countries currently covered by Norwegian travel warnings. The ministry said travellers should also pay attention to transit hubs such as Qatar and UAE, where sudden changes could disrupt onward travel to Southeast Asia.
Norwegian authorities stressed that each traveller must assess their own safety before departure and during the trip. They also warned that travel insurance may be affected if a traveller enters a country or area covered by an official warning.
Travellers are advised to check updated country information through the Reiseklar app or on the government’s website, stay in contact with airlines and tour operators, and register their trip so Norwegian authorities can reach them in an emergency.
