Fresh Norwegian salmon shipments to Vietnam are being delayed after flight cancellations across Middle East transit routes.
Several retailers in Ho Chi Minh City said suppliers have cancelled or postponed deliveries in the coming days.

Importers said consignments from Norway are stranded at hubs such as Dubai and Doha. Others are being held at departure airports as connecting flights to Vietnam are suspended.

Distributors said fresh chilled salmon depends mainly on air freight and strict cold-chain timing. They warned that longer transit times can reduce freshness and add storage costs.

Some importers said they are looking at alternative transit hubs in Europe or East Asia. They said rerouting could raise air freight costs and push up retail prices.

Norway’s Seafood Council said Vietnam was its fastest-growing Southeast Asian market for fresh salmon in 2025. Exports reached about 7,500 tonnes by end-November 2025, up 42% year on year, it said.
