Danish Chamber of Commerce launches in South Korea

Denmark launched a new chamber of commerce in South Korea to strengthen growing business cooperation in green energy, shipping and technology.

A new Danish Chamber of Commerce in South Korea was officially launched on 27 May, reflecting growing business cooperation between Denmark and South Korea.

The chamber begins with 34 member companies, including Maersk, Novo Nordisk, LEGO, Copenhagen Offshore Partners and CS Wind.

According to chairman Jan Benggaard, the chamber aims to strengthen connections between Danish businesses and the wider Danish community in Korea.

In an interview with The Korea Herald, Benggaard said South Korea has become increasingly important for Danish companies’ Asia strategies, particularly in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, shipping and sustainable food production.

He highlighted offshore wind as one of the strongest areas for future cooperation. Danish companies including Vestas and Copenhagen Offshore Partners are already active in South Korea as the country works toward its target of building 10.5 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

Benggaard, who has worked in South Korea since 1998, said the long-term goal is for the chamber to become a permanent platform supporting Danish business activities and Danish-Korean cooperation.
