Vietnam has introduced new health quarantine rules for people entering, leaving or transiting through the country, with the measures taking effect from 1 July.
Under the new decree, travellers may be required to submit health declarations before crossing Vietnamese borders. The Ministry of Health will decide which infectious diseases require declarations depending on the global disease situation and transmission risks.
Health declarations can be submitted electronically or on paper in Vietnamese and English. Travellers may also be asked to provide proof of vaccination or other preventive measures if requested by health authorities.
The decree states that health declarations must be completed within seven days before entry, exit or transit through Vietnam.
Quarantine officers will monitor travellers for signs of infectious diseases through observation, temperature screening and interviews when necessary. According to the decree, inspections for each traveller must be completed within two hours.
The new measures are part of Vietnam’s updated Law on Disease Prevention, which also comes into effect on 1 July.
