Norwegian Air has agreed to acquire Nordic Leisure Travel Group (NLTG) in a deal worth approximately SEK 7.94 billion (USD 843 million), creating one of the largest travel groups in the Nordic region.
The acquisition brings together Norwegian and regional airline Widerøe with some of the Nordics’ best-known travel brands, including Ving, Spies, Tjäreborg and Sunclass Airlines. The combined group is expected to serve around 30 million customers annually.
The deal also gives Norwegian ownership of NLTG’s hotel operations in Thailand.
NLTG operates its own concept hotel brands, including Sunwing, Sunprime and Ocean Beach Club, with properties across major holiday destinations. The company said its portfolio includes hotels in Thailand as well as Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Türkiye.
Norwegian CEO Geir Karlsen described the acquisition as “a milestone in Nordic travel history” and said it would allow the group to offer customers everything from flights to complete holiday packages under one ownership structure.
The company said NLTG’s hotels would benefit from access to Norwegian’s wider route network and customer base. Norwegian also plans to expand hotel and holiday sales across its existing passenger network and sees potential to grow the number of concept hotels in the future.
