A major change could be on the horizon for Swedish oat milk producer Oatly in China.
According to media, executives responsible for Oatly’s operations in Greater China are exploring a deal to acquire the business from the Malmö-based company, Bitget reports.
Sources say a transaction could be completed as early as this year, although discussions are still ongoing,
Oatly launched a review of its China business in 2025 and has considered several options, including a sale.
The company has faced challenges in the market, with revenue in Greater China falling 2.1 percent in the latest quarter.
Oatly entered China in 2018 and opened a production facility in Anhui Province in 2021. The company’s products are sold in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Neither Oatly nor the potential buyers have publicly confirmed a deal.
