Fish Innovation will offer research and training assistance to the Vietnamese. The fish farm will be located in the northern mountain resort of Sa Pa, Lao Cai province.
“Among other tasks, Fish Innovation Center is conducting background research, planning and training. We have now planned a pilot fish farm which will produce fry and will also see them grow till sizable for human consumption. The farm is also designed to be easily altered to later supply other fish farms in the area with fry.” said Mauno Liukkonen, Managing Director Savon Taimen Ltd.
The project follows a feasibility study that brought Finnish fish farming and farm construction experts to Lao Cai province finding many cold streams suitable for salmon breeding.
Construction on the fish farm is to be completed in early 2005.
