On a grey and rainy day in Beijing, Danish pastry, tea and coffee were lined up for curios Chinese journalists as ‘The little book of hygge: the Danish way to live well’ was launched at the Danish Embassy in Beijing on Tuesday 4 July 2017.
The book about hygge is written by happiness researcher Meik Wiking, and has had great international success. It has been translated into over 30 languages and sold in over a quarter of a million copies worldwide.
In the United States, the book has been smashed to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, and the book is now also on the nightstands around the Chinese homes. A growing Chinese middle class can now become wiser on candlelight, South Jutland coffee table and the healthy balance between work and leisure.
