Swedish plastics manufacturer Polykemi has taken a major step into Southeast Asia by securing land for its first production facility in Thailand.
The company signed a land purchase agreement with Amata City Rayong at the Amata City Rayong Industrial Estate, located in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
The agreement was signed by Polykemi Global CEO Oscar Hugoson and Asia CEO Magnus Lindahl together with Amata City Rayong Managing Director Satha Vanalabhpatana.
Founded in Ystad, Sweden, Polykemi is one of Europe’s largest independent producers of customised plastic compounds. The company currently operates production facilities in Sweden, China and the United States, alongside a network of sales offices across Europe.
The new Thai facility will place Polykemi closer to major automotive manufacturers and suppliers operating in the EEC, a key production hub for Japanese carmakers and parts suppliers. The company said the location will allow it to provide faster and more localised service to customers across Southeast Asia.
Polykemi specialises in both virgin and recycled plastic materials and has focused heavily on sustainable plastics solutions during its more than 50 years in the industry.
According to the company, the investment forms part of its global expansion strategy and reflects growing demand for sustainable materials within international automotive supply chains.
