Colorado Avenue is this year’s Finnish film for the EU Film Festival. And you can meet the film’s director Claes Olsson on Saturday, 10 May, when he gives a presentation on the film. The screening begins promptly at 1:30 pm followed by a Q & A session. Tickets are at SGD 10,00, available at all Sistic outlets.
Colorado AvenueColorado Avenue is this year’s Finnish film at the EU Film Festival. It tells the story of Dollar-Hanna, whose life is full of dreams, achievements and losses. The film deals with humiliation, shame, respect and making peace with one’s past. Colorado Avenue, with it’s storyline in the early years of Finland’s independence, is based on Lars Sund´s novels. The cast includes Birthe Wingren, Peter Kanerva and Nicke Lignell. Colorado Avenue is in Swedish with English subtitles.
The film’s director, Mr. Claes Olsson, will visit Singapore and give a presentation at the film screening on Saturday, 10 May, together with the Singapore Film Society’s Chairman, Mr. Kenneth Tan. The screening will start promptly at 1:30 pm followed by an Q & A session with the audience.
Claes Olsson is one of the leading film makers in Finland. He has directed and produced several feature films, documetaries and animations. Previously, EU Film Festival has showcased Olsson’s Shades of Happines (2005) as well as Amazing Women by the Sea (1999). Olsson also produced the last year’s Finnish contribution to the EU Film Festival, The Mystery of the Wolf.
Colorado Avenue will be screened also on Thursday, 15 May at 9:30 pm at the Picturehouse (Cathay). Tickets SGD 10,00 are available at The Picturehouse Box Office.
The 18th EU Film Festival will run 6 to 17 May at both The Picturehouse Cathay as well as Alliance Francaise Theatre. It showcases 21 films from 17 EU countries and the EU Commission with total of 37 screenings. The 18th EU Film Festival is an opening event of the European Season showcasing a variety of European cultural events throughout the year.
