The Danish shoe maker ECCO SKO A/S is estimated to loose around 360 million dkk due to the flooding, tells the newsagency Ritzau. The newsagency´s sources estimates ECCO to loose about 270 million dkk due to lost sales and about 90 million dkk in value of inventory and machinery damaged by the water.
More than a hundred factories producing auto parts, food and electronics have temporarily closed, according to the Federation of Thai Industries. The plant of ECCO Sko A/S is among 40 factories in Ayutthaya that have shut down, Narapote Thewtanom, deputy governor of the Industrial Estate Authority Thailand, said this week.

At least 253 people have been killed as a result of the seasonal monsoon rains that have hit the country since July 25, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said on its website yesterday. About 30 of Thailand’s 77 provinces remain underwater, the agency said.
“This will have a direct impact on Bangkok,” Yingluck said Oct. 7 in a nationally televised address. “We have to admit that this is more serious than in the past.”
