Cambodia backs Thailand’s new visa plan to boost regional tourism, according to the Bangkok Post. Cambodia has officially backed Thailand’s initiative for a six-country single visa plan, known as “6 Countries, 1 Destination,” which aims to position Thailand as a regional tourism hub.
The agreement was reached following discussions between Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism Huot Hak and Thai officials about enhancing cross-border travel. The initiative seeks to promote tourism and economic collaboration among Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand. By simplifying visa processes, the plan would make it easier for tourists to travel and fully experience the diverse cultures and attractions of the region.
This initiative comes after Thailand introduced new visa rules for tourism in July, allowing tourists to stay up to 60 days, in an effort to attract more visitors.
The new “6 countries, 1 destination” plan includes strategies to strengthen partnerships in the tourism industry, create linked travel routes—especially connecting UNESCO heritage sites—and increase flight connections among the six nations. Proposals also include a regional tourism calendar to align key festivals, along with hotel discounts and faster immigration processes for tourists.
Additionally, discussions are underway to establish knowledge-exchange programs and improve transport links by land, water, rail, and air. As this visa plan unfolds, it promises to enhance tourism experiences and collaboration across the region.

This “6 Countries, 1 Destination” visa plan is a fantastic initiative that will make traveling across Southeast Asia much more accessible for tourists. It’s exciting to see Cambodia and Thailand collaborating to boost regional tourism and cultural exchange!
