Denmark and China should continue strengthening their partnership in green technology and sustainable industries, said Søren Gade, Speaker of the Danish Parliament, during a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Copenhagen on Monday.

The event marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“We are very much involved in green tech, and China is as well. We will continue to cooperate on the green transition in the years to come,” said Gade, according to the national Chinese news agency, Xinhua.

He noted that Danish-Chinese cooperation has expanded significantly over the past decades, with a strong focus on wind power, battery technology and new energy vehicles. These sectors, he added, should remain central to future collaboration.

“China is always at the forefront in these areas, and I see no reason why our cooperation should not continue and deepen in the years to come,” he said.

Gade also referenced the recent visit by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to China as an example of the close bilateral ties.

The parliament speaker shared that he had visited China multiple times, including during a 2014 state visit with then Queen Margrethe II. He described China as a “very friendly and welcoming place to visit,” adding that many Danish companies are keen to grow their presence in the Chinese market.
