Dansk Erhverv says foreign workers might be the solution for a labor shortage in Denmark’s hospitality sector.
Dansk Erhverv has highlighted a serious labor shortage in Denmark’s hospitality sector, with 17% of hotels and 30% of restaurants lacking enough staff. Lars Ramme Nielsen, Director of Tourism, Culture & Experience at Dansk Erhverv, stresses the urgent need for foreign workers, particularly from outside the EU, to fill the immediate workforce gaps.
Nielsen advocates for Denmark to welcome workers from countries like the Philippines and Argentina, just as it does for labor from EU nations such as Spain and Poland.
“The industry urgently needs workers, and we have a great opportunity. We have people from countries outside the EU who are eager to work under proper conditions and contribute to our society,” Nielsen told Deloitte.
The organization is also urging political action to ease the entry of non-EU workers, as projections indicate Denmark could face a shortfall of 130,000 workers by 2030.
