Finnair’s summer 2025 schedule includes expanded service on several Asian routes, including daily flights to Tokyo and increased frequencies to Osaka, Nagoya, and Shanghai. The airline has announced plans for its largest-ever summer offering to Asia, highlighting strong demand and strategic commitment to the region.
In all, the airline will fly from Helsinki to the following destinations in Asia:
- Tokyo Narita and Haneda, Japan – daily
- Osaka, Japan – increased to daily
- Nagoya, Japan – from 2x to 4x weekly
- Shanghai, China – from 3x to 4x weekly
- Bangkok, Thailand – regular daily year-round service
- Singapore – several flights weekly
- Seoul, South Korea – daily flights
- Hong Kong – resumed post-COVID with limited frequency
- Delhi, India – part of Finnair’s long-haul network
However, a temporary pilot shortage has forced Finnair to cancel over 200 flights between 1 June and 11 August 2025, including approximately 70 long-haul services. The airline has not confirmed exactly which Asia routes will be affected by the cancellations, but travelers are advised to check their bookings and stay updated via Finnair’s https://www.finnair.com/us-en/flight-information/travel-updates.
Passengers booked on affected flights should have been contacted directly by Finnair with options for rebooking or refunds.
The cancellations reflect an immediate, short-term challenge tied to ongoing labor disputes and paused pilot recruitment. Meanwhile, the planned increases in Asia service show Finnair’s long-term strategy remains focused on strong connectivity between Europe and Asia through its Helsinki hub.
