The LEGO Group (Denmark) inaugurated on 9 April 2025, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province, officially the LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam plant at the VSIP III Industrial Park. With a total investment exceeding USD 1.3 billion, this marks LEGO’s sixth factory globally and its second production facility in Asia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that LEGO’s decision to build a high-tech, environmentally friendly factory in Vietnam reflects the company’s strong confidence in the country’s investment climate and its long-term commitment to sustainable development. He noted that the factory not only brings economic benefits but also serves as a source of creative inspiration for children, while contributing to education and environmental protection.
LEGO CEO Niels B. Christiansen said the inauguration of the Vietnam factory is a strategic move to expand production capacity in the Asia Pacific region. It also demonstrates LEGO’s long-term commitment to sustainable and green development.

The plant spans 44 hectares and includes five main buildings covering a total floor area of 150,000 square meters. These include office facilities, an energy center, injection molding and packaging areas, and an automated warehouse. This is LEGO’s first carbon-neutral factory worldwide, aiming to operate entirely on renewable energy by 2026.
To date, LEGO has installed 12,400 rooftop solar panels at the site, with a total capacity of approximately 7.34 MWp, enough to power around 1,270 households annually. The packaging line will also replace plastic bags with paper-based alternatives and strive for zero landfill waste, aligning with the company’s global sustainability goals.

The project is expected to create over 4,000 jobs in the long term, providing opportunities for young workers to acquire modern skills and participate in the global value chain.
In addition, LEGO is developing a large-scale energy center next to the factory, which will include battery energy storage systems and is scheduled to become operational by the end of 2025.

Also as part of its strategy to build a more flexible and efficient supply chain for the Asian market, LEGO plans to inaugurate a new distribution center in Dong Nai Province by the end of 2025. The facility has already begun trial operations with its first shipments.
