From June 1 to 5, the Vietnam-Sweden Children’s Film Week will take place at Ngọc Khánh Cinema on Kim Mã Street in Hanoi. The event is organised by the Vietnam Film Institute in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam, Vietnam+ reports.
The film week is held to mark International Children’s Day and is designed for audiences under 16.
Across five days, a total of 14 films will be screened, including three Swedish feature films and 11 Vietnamese animated productions.
Under Vietnam’s film classification rules, children under 13 may attend screenings if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
One of the highlights of the programme is the strong connection between cinema and literature. On the opening day, Kim Đồng Publishing House will present Vietnamese editions of well-known works by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, including Do You Know Pippi?, Pippi Goes Shopping, Pippi in the South Seas, and Pippi Saves Christmas.
The festival will also feature quiz games and book introductions linked to Pippi Longstocking, one of Sweden’s most famous children’s characters.
Organisers say the aim is not only to show films, but to create a space where children can experience different art forms — from literature to cinema — in one setting.
Interactive activities such as games and quizzes are also part of the programme, designed to make learning and cultural exchange feel natural and engaging for young audiences.
