A delegation from the Vietnam Women’s Academy, under the Vietnam Women’s Union, recently visited Norway as part of a wider Northern Europe working trip focused on strengthening international cooperation and ties with the Vietnamese diaspora, Vietnam.vn reports.
The delegation was led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union in charge of the Academy. During the visit, they met with representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Norway and also engaged directly with Vietnamese women living, studying, and working in the country.
Discussions focused on Vietnam–Norway relations, the social and economic situation in Norway, and the daily lives of Vietnamese expatriates-particularly women who form a significant part of the community.
Ambassador Dinh Nho Hung and embassy staff highlighted the role of Vietnamese women in Norway, describing them as hardworking, well-integrated, and committed to preserving cultural traditions while adapting to their new environment.
Shared stories
For the visiting delegation, the trip was also an opportunity to present ongoing initiatives from the Vietnam Women’s Union, including programmes on women’s economic empowerment, digital skills development, environmental awareness, and family wellbeing.
They also shared plans for the upcoming 14th National Congress of Vietnamese Women, scheduled for 2026, which is expected to set priorities for the organisation in a period shaped by digital transformation and global integration.
Beyond policy discussions, the meeting carried a personal tone. Many overseas Vietnamese women spoke about their emotional connection to Vietnam and their efforts to preserve language and culture for the next generation.
A symbolic moment came with the presentation of a book titled “Uncle Ho with Women and Children”, published by the Vietnam Women’s Publishing House.
The book highlights the lifelong attention of Ho Chi Minh to women and children, and is intended as a cultural gift for the community in Norway.
The visit ended on a warm note, underscoring a continued effort to connect Vietnamese women at home and abroad through shared identity, cultural preservation, and institutional cooperation.
