Unpleasant record for Andersen’s of Denmark ice cream

Shanghai’s consumer protection commission has been cheeking ice cream and the result isn’t pleasant for ice cream lovers. Worst was Dairy Queen. Their Blizzard ice cream exceeded the allowed limit for bacteria more than 10 times. Second was Andersen’s of Denmark, their vanilla flavoured ice cream exceeded the national standard of coliform bacteria by almost 10 times.

Andersen’s of Denmark said they were unaware of the results but would have an announcement after an investigation.

The Shanghai’s consumer protection commission tested 22 products. Ten failed tests, including Chinese brands, all for bacterial problems.

Some ice cream producers have very poor awareness of food safety, the commission said, and it suggested that the authorities should strengthen the supervision and training of producers of ice cream.
