Head of Swedish Parliament Visits Indonesia and Timor Leste

Mr Lennart Kollmats, Chairman of Swedish Parliament’s Committee Cultural Affairs, together with his nine colleagues has visited Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bali and Timor Leste between 5-16 January.
         The visit aims to learn about culture, media and youth affairs. 
         The delegation was scheduled to meet with the Speaker of DPR-RI H.E. Mr Agung Laksono, as well as their counterparts from the Committee for Inter Parliamentary Cooperation and Committee X on Culture, Education and Youth Affairs. 
         The delegation will also meet with a number of Government officials. In Yogyakarta they are scheduled to meet with Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and the Speaker of the Provincial Parliament of Yogyakarta (DPRD-DIY). 
         The delegations then have traveled to Bali to pay tribute to the Swedish victims of the Bali bombing and to meet with the Governor of Bali Made Dewa Beratha. 
         Apart from state and provincial officials and parliamentarians, the delegation will meet and visit individuals, organisations and institutes involved in cultural life in Indonesia, for example the National Museum in Jakarta and the University of Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta. 
         The delegation will also visit Timor Leste between 12-14 January, where they will meet with the President of Timor Leste H.E. Mr Xanana Gusmão, as well as the Speaker of Parliament H.E. Mr Francisco Guterres. 
         The delegation will also have meetings with their counterparts from the Parliament of Timor Leste. Upon their return to Jakarta, a meeting at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia will finalize their trip and the delegation will leave for Sweden on Monday 16 January 2006.
