Norwegian Seafood Promotion Attracts Seafood Lovers in Malaysia

Ending on Febuary 29, 2008 Malaysian seafood lovers will be drooling over the Norwegian seafood promotion held in Malaysia by the Norwegian Seafood Export Council, the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Crown Princess Kuala Lumpur.
“This is also the first time Norwegian seafood is combined systematically with halal ingredients, demonstrating its adaptability in meeting local culture and culinary demands,” said council regional manager for Southeast Asia Mika Tomiyama.
This year’s collaboration sees a variety of new dishes featuring the popular Norwegian salmon, cod and red king crab, all dished up buffet-style or a la carte at four of the hotel’s food outlets, namely Cafe On The Tenth, Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant, Prime Grill Room and Taj North Indian Restaurant.
A country the size of Malaysia, but with a scarce population of only 4.6million, more than 90% of Norway’s yearly 3.3million tonnes of seafood production is exported to more than 150 countries worldwide.
“Norwegian seafood tastes especially good due to the cold waters along the Norwegian coast. The sea creatures grow slowly in this low temperature, adding taste and texture to the seafood by greater enhancing the quality,” said Braastad during the launch of the Norwegian seafood promotion and halal recipe booklet at Crown Princess Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday .
Some of the delicacies that featured on the menu this year include Norwegian salmon with kerabu mango, braised Norwegian salmon fish head with mushrooms, baked Norwegian cod glazed with oriental sweet & sour sauce, and Norwegian red king crab hoe curry.
The Norwegian seafood promotion is priced from RM20++ to RM62++ per person depending on the menu and restaurant. The promotion ends on 29 Feb. For details or reservation, call 03-2162 5522.
