Thai temple in Lapland

Buddharama Temple, a Thai Buddhist association in Sweden, likes to raise a Buddhist temple in the outskirts of Fredrika, a municipality in northern Sweden.
“This is good central location for northern Finland, Norway and Sweden. And the quiet surroundings in Lapland are ideal for meditation and concentration,” said Phramahaboontin Punyathacho, leader of Buddharama Temple at a press conference there first week of March.
Fredrika is located in Åsele province which has attracted many Thai seasonal workers, picking berries there, and some have settled in the area.
Local politicians support the project which aims to attract some 10 000 visitors per year if and when completed.
