A clash of colour, culture and creative identity has landed in Bangkok, as Thai street art figure MUEBON joins forces with Norwegian stencil artist Martin Whatson in a new exhibition exploring contrast and collaboration, The Nation Thailand reports.
Titled Night and Day, the show brings together two distinct visual languages shaped by more than 20 years of friendship and artistic exchange.
MUEBON’s playful cartoon-inspired figures sit alongside Whatson’s layered stencil work, known for its stark monochrome tones disrupted by bursts of graffiti colour. Together, they create a visual dialogue between light and dark, chaos and calm.
The artists describe the project as a slow, cross-continental collaboration shaped by distance and time difference between Thailand and Norway. Works were developed through an exchange process, with pieces sent back and forth and completed across both countries.
The result is an exhibition built on trust, where neither artist saw the full outcome until the works were finally assembled in Bangkok.
Whatson said Thailand offered the ideal environment for large-scale experimental installations, something he noted is far more difficult to realise in Norway due to cost and logistical limitations.
MUEBON, one of Thailand’s most recognisable street artists, is known for his signature black bird character used to reflect social themes with humour and satire. Whatson, meanwhile, has exhibited internationally, combining graffiti energy with structured stencil techniques.
Night and Day invites visitors to move through immersive spaces rather than simply observe artworks, blending graffiti, sculpture and installation into an interactive experience.
The exhibition runs until 12 May 2026 at Sphere Gallery in Bangkok’s EMSPHERE, organised by Sanctuary Gallery and EM District.
