Denmark and Indonesia are exploring closer cooperation in pharmaceuticals, laboratory development and life sciences following a visit by Indonesia’s Food and Drug Authority to Denmark.

Representatives from the two countries continued the discussions during a dinner at the Danish residence in Jakarta with Taruna Ikrar, chairperson of Indonesia’s Food and Drug Authority, known as BPOM.

According to the Danish Embassy in Indonesia, the talks covered capacity building, knowledge sharing, innovation, stronger national laboratories and professional development within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

The meeting followed an exchange visit by a BPOM delegation to Denmark from 20 to 27 June 2026. BPOM described the visit as part of efforts to expand cooperation with Denmark in healthcare, food regulation and life sciences.

The parties are considering activities including professional workshops, knowledge exchanges and longer-term partnerships involving public authorities, companies, universities and healthcare professionals.

However, neither the embassy nor BPOM has announced a formal agreement, specific project or timetable following the latest discussions.

BPOM is Indonesia’s national authority for regulating and supervising medicines, vaccines, food products, supplements and cosmetics.
