A new training centre for sustainable tourism practices has been launched in Hue, Vietnam, with support from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Norway through WWF-Vietnam.

The centre, inaugurated on 29 September, will provide knowledge on alternatives to plastic, eco-friendly tourism management and low-plastic tour design. It will serve as a hub connecting local businesses, educational institutions and stakeholders in efforts to build a green tourism ecosystem in Hue.

As part of the programme, Hue Tourism College signed cooperation agreements with local wards and communes to promote community-based tourism and vocational training. The college also partnered with the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre to link sustainable tourism initiatives with heritage preservation.

At the launch event, participants were introduced to a one-day low-plastic tour developed by the Hue Travel Association, a cooking class using ingredients that are often discarded, and a showcase of plastic-reducing products. Rector Pham Ba Hung said the initiative would benefit learners while strengthening Hue’s image as a green and friendly tourist destination.
