Minister of foreign affairs of Norway, Ine Eriksen Søreide, meets with her Asian colleges at the 51st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Singapore.
At the meeting, the foreign ministers of the ASEAN member states meet with foreign ministers from ASEAN’s external partners, including Norway.
“The partnership with ASEAN is important to Norway and provides cooperation on regional stability, peaceful and sustainable development, economic integration and favorable conditions for Norwegian business,” said Ine Eriksen Søreide ahead of the meeting.
Norway started their partnership with ASEAN in 2015. Due to the partnership, Eriksen Søreide will have a separate meeting with the ASEAN Secretary-General and the Singapore Presidency, represented by Singapore’s foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
The ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting take place from 31 July to 4 August.
The members states of ASEAN are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
