Midsummer CEO Eric Jaremalm expressed enthusiasm, describing the factory as a “turnkey” solution that could expand to other markets.

Swedish solar cell maker Midsummer has teamed up with defense company Saab AB to explore the creation of a 200-megawatt solar cell factory in Thailand. The project aims to boost Thailand’s renewable energy efforts and foster technology sharing.

Under the plan, Midsummer will design the factory, supply production equipment, and hold a small ownership stake in the Thai company. The facility will use Midsummer’s advanced solar technology to produce cells efficiently.

Saab stated the partnership aligns with its security business, though further details are pending. Midsummer CEO Eric Jaremalm called the factory a “turnkey” solution that could expand to other markets. The project timeline will be finalized in discussions with Thai authorities.
